Family Crest

Hey Ho :)

I finished a nice commission again, I want to show you now :D I remade an old family crest and vectorized it. I even learned a bit about heraldry and a lot about vectors during the progress.

Das original Wappen/ The original crest:

Mein Bleistiftentwurf/ My pencil sketch:

Das Lineart/ The lineart:

Und das finale Wappen/ And the final crest:

Und zum Spaß noch die Pfadansicht/ And just for fun the paths:

And finally some pretty close ups:

I would love to do more in this direction. That was a great project :)

bye bye

Das Resulatat is hübsch.

  3. Dear Gerhard,

As the commissioner of this artwork, I can answer some of these questions. You are right, the silver and gold colours do not usually overlay in heraldry unless there is a special meaning assigned to them (an exception), and/or the second metal is part of a charge (distinguished element), as is the case in this coat of arms. It's rare, but it does happen.

The bird is not a heron, but the common heraldic crest/charge known as the "pelican in her piety". The nest doesn't change the recognisable or official nature of the crest, and it was a lovely addition by Katharina.

And the customer is very satisfied, I assure you. ;)

    All the best!
